Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) has officially opened the 2024 Congressional Art Competition to all high school students in Virginia’s First District. The competition, with a deadline of May 1, offers young artists a chance to have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside winners from other congressional districts across the country.

Speaking about the competition, Congressman Wittman stated, “The Commonwealth is home to incredible artistic talent and many bright young students — I encourage all young artists in Virginia’s First District to submit an original piece to this year’s Congressional Art Competition. I look forward to seeing the creativity of our Virginia students in their submissions.”

Student entries for the competition are welcome in various forms including paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. All submissions must be original in concept, design, and execution, and must adhere to U.S. copyright laws.

To enter the competition, students can drop off their submissions at one of the congressman’s offices located in Glen Allen, Yorktown, or Tappahannock. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year, and the winning artist will also be invited to a reception in the U.S. Capitol in honor of all Congressional Art Competition winners.

For further details and submission guidelines, interested students can visit the Congressman's website for more information on how to participate in this prestigious competition.
