Winter Wildlife Festival
January 1, 2022–January 31, 2022
DWR is a proud sponsor and partner of the Virginia Beach Winter Wildlife Festival, a month-long celebration of Virginia’s coastal wildlife. The 2022 festival will continue to “go the distance” to offer a wide variety of in-person and virtual activities (listed below). See festival website to register and find full details. Trips do fill quickly, so don’t delay!
Festival activities include:
- Birding Challenge! Identify as many species of birds as possible in a day in this fun, friendly team-based challenge. Three divisions to choose from.
- Guided Trips & Excursions: Birding, Whale Watching, and More!
- Photography Contest
- Virtual Keynote: “The Bird Way” with Jennifer Ackerman
- Virtual Workshops
- Children’s Outdoor Story Walk Exhibit
- Exhibit Hall
- Community art project
- Wildlife Advocate Award: Nominations are open! Nominate someone you know who educates, celebrates, and/or advocates for wildlife.
