Congressman Rob Wittman has announced the commencement of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, which is open to high school students in Virginia’s First District. This annual competition provides young artists with an opportunity to display their work, with the winning piece set to be exhibited for a year at the U.S. Capitol.
Submissions are due by Monday, April 28, 2025.
“The Commonwealth is home to incredible artistic talent and many bright young students,” said Congressman Wittman. “I encourage all young artists in Virginia’s First District to participate in this year’s competition and look forward to seeing their creativity on display.”
The previous year's winner was Marlena Newman from Midlothian with her piece titled “Waterways.”
The first-place winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside other national winners and will also be invited to a reception in Washington, D.C., to celebrate their success.
Eligible art forms include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. All submissions must be original works and adhere to U.S. copyright laws.
