Department of Aviation issued the following announcement on Nov. 19
The Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV) is making progress on the Virginia Air Transportation System Plan (VATSP) 2022. The Team will be providing a project status update to the Virginia Aviation Board (VAB) at their next meeting, taking place on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
This update will include an overview of the Airport Classification Method being used and the newly defined Airport Roles for the public-use airports in the Virginia Air Transportation System. These roles were developed to help guide funding decisions, characterize airport function, and provide a roadmap for airport development.
The Team will also share the findings of the aviation activity forecasts, which looked at Virginia’s 9 commercial service and 57 general aviation airports. The VATSP aviation activity forecasts are an important step in assessing how to meet Virginia’s current and future needs for airports.
