Manassas Regional Airport Receives Brewer Award

28

Department of Aviation issued the following announcement on Oct. 29

In honor of its outstanding contributions to the advancement of youth in aerospace activities, the Manassas Regional Airport and Airport Commission has received the Mid-Atlantic Region Civil Air Patrol Frank G. Brewer Memorial Aerospace Organization Category of the Year Award.

The award is one of the highest honors that an outside organization can receive from the Civil Air Patrol. It encourages airport staff and the commission to continue working with youth and ensure they have opportunities to learn about new careers in aerospace.

“The Airport and our Commission are honored to receive this award,” Airport Director Juan Rivera commented in a recent news release. “We are a proud supporter of the Civil Air Patrol program and its aerospace education mission.”

The Manassas Regional Airport Commission has supported the Prince William Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol for over 20 years. Through the airport commission, the unit has had decades of free use of two aircraft tie-downs and space for a trailer. On many occasions, the unit and other Wing activities have had access to meeting spaces and briefing rooms free of charge.

The airport is the heart of orientation rides not only for Prince William Composite Squadron cadets, but also for the wider Group 3 (Northern Virginia area). Through their hospitality, the Manassas Regional Airport Commission greatly enhances Civil Air Patrol’s service to youth in aerospace.
