The CAA has announced its first women’s basketball weekly awards for the 2022-23 season. Following impressive performances in their season openers, Towson’s Kylie Kornegay-Lucas was selected as CAA Player of the Week, and Drexel’s Kylie Lavelle was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

Kylie Kornegay-Lucas, Towson

Kornegay-Lucas had an impressive all-around performance in Towson’s 83-72 season-opening victory over Longwood, nearly recording a triple-double with 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The redshirt junior added a career-high five blocks and three steals defensively while making a career-high 11 field goals on 16 shot attempts (68.8%). It marks the first 25/5/5 performance in her career and is the most points scored in a season opener for the Tigers since 2016-17.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kylie Lavelle, Drexel
Freshman | Forward | Moosic, Pa. / Riverside
Lavelle scored 20 points in her collegiate debut, helping Drexel to an 84-58 victory in its season opener against Rider. Her 20 points came on 8-for-12 (66.7%) shooting from the floor, while she added six rebounds and three steals in the effort. It is the most points for a player in her Drexel debut since the school joined the CAA for the 2001-02 season.
