Description

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) announces an excellent training opportunity. Children’s Advocacy Centers of Virginia (CACVA), in partnership with Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will offer ChildFirstTM Virginia Forensic Interview Training in Virginia Beach, November 1- November 5, 2021.  It will be held at The Advanced Technology Center at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach campus, located at 1800 College Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va. 23453.

ChildFirst™ Virginia is an intensive five-day course through which students learn the skills necessary to conduct a forensic interview of a suspected child abuse victim. It combines lectures and demonstrations supplemented with homework assignments and a written examination at the end of the course. Moreover, participants must conduct a 30-minute interview of a professional actor playing the role of a sexually-abused child after which the interviewer is critiqued by a professional forensic interviewer and cohort of fellow students. The course is specifically designed for attendance by multidisciplinary teams comprised of CPS investigators, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and forensic interviewers.
