Congressman Rob Wittman met with the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Virginia’s First District on Apr. 23. The winning team, made up of Faribah Nuha, Jay Chauhan, Obaloluwa Ogunade, and Jack Gardner from Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, developed an app called TroopCompanion.
The Congressional App Challenge aims to promote student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields by inviting middle and high school students nationwide to create software applications for various platforms.
“It was an honor to meet Faribah Nuha, Jay Chauhan, Obaloluwa Ogunade, and Jack Gardner and learn more about their winning app,” said Rep. Wittman. “Their innovation, dedication, and commitment to serving others are truly impressive, and I was proud to celebrate their achievements here in our nation’s capital.”
Rob Wittman is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 1st district after replacing Jo Ann Davis in 2007 according to congressional records. He has served as a member of Congress since that time following previous roles in the Virginia House of Delegates and Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors from 2006 to 2007 as noted by his official biography.
Wittman was born in Washington D.C. in 1959 and now lives in Montross according to Vote Smart. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 as reported by VT Magazine.
