Tonda Schwartz, a school nutrition field supervisor, was recognized as the “Yay of the Day” honoree by Superintendent Amy Cashwell on April 29. The recognition highlights her dedication to supporting students and staff in Henrico County Public Schools.
The award draws attention to the importance of dedicated staff members who help deliver positive learning experiences for students through educational and support roles, according to the official website of Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) official website.
Schwartz was nominated by MaryJane Lasek, who said, “She is the hardest working field supervisor. You can always find her in a kitchen and not behind a desk. She is always working outside normal hours to make sure all managers and staff are getting the help they need.” Lasek also said, “When our kitchen was down 5 people in a day, she not only got us some extra hands, she herself came ready to cook and cashier. She is always in a school making sure children get fed and her staff, not just managers, know she is just a call away.”
Henrico County Public Schools provides services throughout Henrico County, Virginia—adjacent to Richmond—and has extended educational services across this area according to its official website.
