Congressman Rob Wittman has been reappointed to the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and Chinese Communist Party for the 119th Congress. This decision was made by Speaker Mike Johnson. The committee's role is to evaluate threats posed by the Chinese government to both the economy and national security, while also developing strategies to secure America's future.

"The Chinese Communist Party remains America’s greatest adversary, and we must confront China’s military, economic, and diplomatic coercion while countering its hostile agenda," said Congressman Wittman. He emphasized that during the previous Congress, significant efforts were made to address supply chain restoration, reduce economic reliance on China, bolster military strength, and prevent data theft by the CCP. "This is not a partisan issue—Republicans and Democrats in Congress remain united against the CCP’s malign influence."

Chairman John Moolenaar highlighted Wittman's importance: "Rep. Rob Wittman is a crucial addition to our efforts as we confront the growing threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party." Moolenaar noted that Wittman's experience will be vital in continuing bipartisan work from past sessions.

In his previous term, Congressman Wittman led discussions on critical minerals policy, focusing on topics such as recycling, sustainability in supply chains affected by forced labor, and China's impact on mineral prices.

The Select Committee members for this term include Chairman John Moolenaar (MI-02), Rob Wittman (VA-01), Andy Barr (KY-06), Dan Newhouse (WA-04), Darin LaHood (IL-16), Neal Dunn (FL-02), Dusty Johnson (SD-At large), Ashley Hinson (IA-02), Carlos Giménez (FL-28), Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), Young Kim (CA-40), Nathaniel Moran (TX-01), and Zach Nunn (IA-03).
