Today, Congressman Rob Wittman of Virginia's 1st District expressed support for President Trump's recent executive orders on border security. In a statement, Wittman criticized the previous administration's handling of border issues.

"For four years, the Biden-Harris administration turned a blind eye to the border crisis they created, failing to even acknowledge the problem," said Congressman Wittman. "Instead, their policies encouraged illegal immigration by offering taxpayer-funded health care and amnesty for those who circumvented the legal process. Border security is a matter of national security, and the actions taken by President Trump reflect the leadership we need to address this crisis head-on. President Trump’s executive actions send a clear and unmistakable message: the United States will no longer tolerate illegal crossings and an endless flow of deadly drugs into our country. We must secure our borders, protect our communities, and uphold the rule of law."

The executive orders issued by President Trump include several measures aimed at strengthening border security. These measures involve declaring a national emergency to provide federal resources to border states, combating drug cartels like Tren de Aragua and MS-13 by designating them as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, ending the practice known as "catch and release," reinstating the "Remain in Mexico" policy for asylum seekers, constructing physical barriers at the southern border with advanced technology support, and terminating mass parole programs initiated under the previous administration.

These steps are intended to regain control over border operations and address what has been described as a crisis situation.
