Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, expressed his concerns ahead of the meeting between President Biden and Xi Jinping. Wittman stated, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." He criticized the previous visits of U.S. cabinet officials to China, stating that they did not yield any tangible outcomes.

Wittman found it baffling that President Biden was willing to meet with authoritarian dictator Xi Jinping without making any demands. He emphasized that any meeting between U.S. and Chinese Communist Party officials should only be held if China agrees to certain conditions.

These conditions include stopping the flow of fentanyl, ceasing all near-collisions and dangerous intercepts of U.S. ships and aircraft, ending harassment of Philippine vessels around the Second Thomas shoal, and ceasing all military operations in Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone east of the Median Line.

Wittman stressed the importance of President Biden sending a clear message that America will not tolerate the increasing military aggression of the People's Liberation Army or the insidious attempts by the Chinese Communist Party to advance their malign agenda.

It remains to be seen how President Biden will address these concerns in his meeting with Xi Jinping.
