CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - October 11

UNCW sophomore Jacob Duracinsky was honored as the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Delaware freshman Kevin Seigfried was chosen as the Men’s Diver of the Week. Delaware senior Mira Selling received Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades, and Northeastern sophomore Erin Murphy was selected as the Women’s Diver of the Week.

 

CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Jacob Duracinsky, So., UNCW (Holly Springs, N.C./Southern Wake)

 

Duracinsky recorded two first-place finishes and a second-place effort in UNCW’s meet against ACC foe Georgia Tech last weekend. The sophomore captured the 100 free with a time of 46.22 and was second in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.38. He also clocked a split of 20.39 as part of the Seahawks’ winning 200 free relay team (1:22.04). Duracinsky has the fastest times in the CAA in both the 100 and 200 free this season.

 

CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Mira Selling, Sr., Delaware (Dresden, Germany)

Selling placed first in three individual events and one relay as Delaware opened the season with victories over UMBC and Johns Hopkins. The senior was dominant in the freestyle races, winning the 100 (50.94), 200 (1:49.89) and 500 (4:49.64). She was also part of the Blue Hens’ first-place 400 freestyle relay team (3:28.86). All three freestyle times were the second-fastest in the CAA this season, as was the performance in the relay.

CAA Men’s Diver of the Week

Kevin Seigfried, Fr., Delaware (Chalfont, Pa.)

 

In his collegiate debut, Seigfried swept both boards in Delaware’s season-opening victories against UMBC and Johns Hopkins. The freshman compiled a winning score of 287.55 on the 1-meter board and topped it with a score of 300.45 to claim first place in the 3-meter event.

CAA Women’s Diver of the Week

Erin Murphy, So., Northeastern (Duxbury, Mass.)

 

Murphy recorded first-place finishes on both boards in Northeastern’s tri-meet with UConn and Rhode Island last weekend. The sophomore posted a winning score of 262.25 in the 1-meter competition and took the top spot with a score of 248.80 in the 3-meter competition.
