Towson’s Cajic Named AVCA National Player of the Week

Towson University volleyball student-athlete Nina Cajic received national recognition this afternoon from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as she was named the Game Changer/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week.

The honor comes one day after Cajic was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The junior from Subotica, Serbia totaled 32 kills (5.33 per set) on a .698 hitting percentage in back-to-back straight-set victories over Stony Brook as Towson extended its winning streak to 14 matches, the longest active streak in the nation.

In Saturday’s match, Cajic tallied a match-high 14 kills without committing an error, hitting a blistering .737. She followed the performance by matching a career-high with 18 kills, adding four blocks, and posting a .667 hitting percentage in the weekend finale. Cajic has reached double-figure kills in eight contests this year, including the last three, and ranks fifth in the NCAA with a hitting percentage of .442 for the season.
