The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced the recipients of its track and field weekly awards. Abigail Hassman of Northeastern earned CAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, and Delaware’s Megan Albamonti was named CAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. On the men’s side, UNCW swept the awards as Josh Parks collected Track Athlete of the Week accolades, while Owen Pelletier received Field Athlete of the Week honors.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Abigail Hassman, Northeastern
Sophomore | Distance | Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough HS
Hassman recorded a career-best time in the 5000m, breaking the Northeastern program record in the event at the Raleigh Relays. The sophomore crossed the line in a time of 16:30.41 to finish 31st in the field of 173 competitors. Her time is nearly 45 seconds faster than the second-fastest time in the CAA this season, while she ranks 26th in the NCAA East Region and 31st nationally in the event.

Megan Albamonti, Delaware
Junior | Throws | Westerly, R.I. / Westerly HS
Albamonti broke the Delaware program record in the javelin at the Raleigh Relays with a mark of 50.62m (166-01), placing her fourth overall in the event. She is the only CAA student-athlete to record a throw over 50m this season as she established the top mark in the league. Her throw ranks ninth in the NCAA East Region and is 20th overall in the NCAA.

Parks had an impressive weekend in the hurdles with a pair of top-three finishes at the Raleigh Relays. The junior broke a 17-year-old program recorded after clocking a 13.95(w) to finish third in the 110m hurdles. Additionally, he won the 400m hurdles with a personal-best 51:55. Both times are the top marks in their respective events in the CAA this season. Parks time in the 400m hurdles ranks fourth in the NCAA East Region and 20th nationally. With his time in the 110m hurdles, he is one of 28 athletes to break the 14.00-second barrier this season, ranking 14th in the NCAA East Region and 24th in the country.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Owen Pelletier, UNCW
Senior | Jumps | Orford, N.H. / Rivendell Academy
Pelletier recorded a lifetime best mark in the long jump at the Raleigh Relays, leaping 7.01m(w) (23-00). The mark placed him 14th in the event out of 40 competitors. He is the only athlete in the CAA to jump over 7.00m this season, and his league-leading mark is nearly three feet further than the next closest person.
Women’s Notes:
Charleston – Four Cougars earned individual victories at the Montreat College Invite: Logan Gray (shot put), Cate Ambrose (1500m), Chloe Christian (Pole Vault) and Kacey Smekrud (800m). Gray’s mark of 13.21m (43-04.25) in the shot put ranks third in the conference and moved her into fourth place all-time in Charleston history … Delaware – Chioma Njoku and Susanna Weir also broke Delaware program records at the Raleigh Relays. Njoku finished 11th overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.17m (181-00), while Wier placed 27th in the 10,000m crossing the line in 34:24.34. Njoku and Weir rank second and third in the CAA in their respective event … Elon – Madison George tied the Elon program record in the pole vault at the Raleigh Relays with a vault of 3.90m (12-09.50), which ranks second in the CAA this season. Jette Beermann and Alyssa Sandy established league-leading times in the 1500m (4:27.70) and 100m hurdles (13.78), respectively … James Madison – Shelby Staib broke the JMU program record in the javelin at the Raleigh Relays. She recorded a mark of 48.92m (160-06) to place ninth overall in the event. Miranda Stanhope earned a personal-best 34:22.41 in the 10,000m run for the third-best time in JMU program history. The CAA’s top time ranks 17th in the NCAA East Region and 21st nationally … UNCW – Victoria Whimple and Jayda Hunter earned top-10 finishes in the triple jump at the Raleigh Relays. Whimple leaped 12.23m (40-01.50) to finish fifth, and Hunter recorded a mark of 12.11m (39-08.75) to place seventh. They are the top two performances in the CAA this season … Northeastern – Madison Neuner established a league-leading time in the 3000m (11:10.39) steeplechase, while Tessa McClain posted the fourth-fastest time in the 1500m (4:31.00) at the Raleigh Relays … Towson – Hayley Horvath finished third in the pole vault at the Raleigh Relays. She cleared 4.15m (13-07.25), establishing the top mark in the CAA this season, which ranks ninth in the NCAA East Region and 19th in the NCAA. Crystal Johnson placed eighth out of 71 competitors in the 100m dash, finishing in a time of 11.73(w) … William & Mary – Keeley Suzenski earned first-place finishes in the shot put (14.10m), discus (45.40m), and hammer throw (51.18m) at the Dan Stimson Invitational.
Men’s Notes:
UNCW – Khairi Williams and Donovan Lara joined Parks, earning top-15 finishes at the Raleigh Relays. Williams placed 15th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.70(w), while Lara jumped 1.95m (6-04.75) in the high jump to finish 13th … Northeastern – Reed Cherry won the 800m at the Raleigh Relays, posting a time of 1:50.72. The time not only leads the CAA but ranks 11th in the NCAA East Region and 23rd in the nation. Mayowa Osunsami competed in the 110m hurdles at the Texas Relays, earning an 11th place finish with a time of 14.52. William & Mary – Three members of the Tribe earned individual victories at the Dan Stimson Invitational. Jacob Jones (1500m), Alex Loukili (800m), and Daniel Layton (110m Hurdles, High Jump).
