Richard Hurdle, Transportation Operations Coordinator at Henrico County Public Schools, was honored as the “Yay of the Day” recipient, according to an announcement on Apr. 8. Superintendent Amy Cashwell presented the recognition in appreciation of Hurdle’s commitment to supporting students’ transportation needs.

The acknowledgment highlights the importance of reliable transportation services for students and recognizes staff who go beyond their regular duties. Nominator JoAna Smith said about Hurdle: “He goes above and beyond for transportation and student safety.” She added that during one incident involving a McKinney-Vento student who was not picked up, “he stayed on the phone for two hours to ensure transportation for the student and followed up after. This was after the transportation office closed.”
