Rep. Rob Wittman, who represents Virginia’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on his activities and legislative priorities through a series of posts on social media.
On August 13, 2025, Wittman described a visit with local officials in Williamsburg: “Recently, I met with City of Williamsburg officials, including Mayor Doug Pons and City Manager Andrew Trivette, and the city’s Public Works team. We toured the water treatment plant at Waller Mill Reservoir and discussed the physical and cyber security needs for the public” (August 13, 2025).
Later that day, Wittman announced an upcoming employment event in Henrico: “I am excited to announce that my office will be hosting a Job Fair in Henrico! Please join us on August 26th between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to meet with local employers who are actively looking to hire. To register, please visit: https://t.co/kItEObdjn3” (August 13, 2025).
In another post that evening, Wittman highlighted legislative efforts concerning Medicaid: “H.R. 1 will strengthen, secure, and sustain Medicaid for our most vulnerable communities, such as pregnant women, single mothers, children, seniors, and people with disabilities. This legislation roots out waste, fraud, and abuse by removing people from the program who are” (August 13, 2025).
Wittman has represented Virginia’s 1st district since replacing Jo Ann Davis in Congress in 2007. Before his tenure in Congress began that year, he served both in the Virginia House of Delegates and on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors from 2006 to 2007. Born in Washington D.C. in 1959 and currently residing in Montross at age 64, Wittman graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981.
