Rep. Rob Wittman, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 1st district since 2007, recently shared updates on his activities in Chesterfield County and the fishing industry in Virginia through a series of posts on social media.

On August 14, 2025, Wittman wrote about his visit with local officials to discuss water safety: “I joined county leaders in Chesterfield to learn more about the plan to provide safe water to consumers and businesses. We heard from the Planning Department and the Utilities Department about the county’s Addison-Evans Production and Laboratory Facility.”

Later that day, he highlighted a tour of Omega Protein with House Natural Resources Committee staff and industry experts: “Last week, I toured Omega Protein alongside House Natural Resources Committee staff and industry experts to learn more about their fishing practices and work supporting our community. On August 15, 2025, Wittman addressed tax relief for seniors under proposed legislation: “By providing seniors with an additional tax deduction of up to $6,000 each year per taxpayer or $12,000 for a married couple, H.R.1 provides seniors with historic tax relief and puts money back where it belongs: in their pockets.”

Wittman has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Jo Ann Davis in 2007. He previously held positions in the Virginia House of Delegates and on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1959, Wittman is currently 64 years old and resides in Montross. He earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in 1981.
