Rep. Rob Wittman, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 1st district since 2007, recently used his social media platform to highlight a series of local and national recognitions and events.
On September 11, 2025, Wittman acknowledged the career of Bill Crow, former President of the Virginia Ship Repair Association. He posted: “It was an honor to present my friend Bill Crow, the former President of the Virginia Ship Repair Association, with a flag flown over the Capitol and remarks that were entered into the Congressional Record, commemorating his career. Wishing him luck on his future endeavors!”
The following day, Wittman announced legislative action in Congress honoring a historical figure central to American history. On September 12, 2025, he wrote: “This week, I introduced a resolution honoring General Marquis de Lafayette on the bicentennial of his historic Farewell Tour. At just 19, Lafayette volunteered to fight for American independence, using his own resources to support our troops and earning the lifelong friendship of”
Later that same day on September 12, Wittman encouraged constituents interested in military service opportunities by posting: “If you are interested in learning more about applying for one of our nation’s service academies, join us TOMORROW for our 2025 Service Academy Day!”
Wittman’s recent posts reflect both his engagement with constituents and recognition of notable individuals and events related to Virginia’s history and its communities. Born in Washington D.C. in 1959 and currently residing in Montross at age 64, Wittman has represented Virginia’s 1st District since succeeding Jo Ann Davis in Congress after her passing in 2007; prior to that he served on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors and as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech earned in 1981.
