Rep. Rob Wittman, who represents Virginia’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account highlighting legislative actions and commemorations related to national defense and energy policy.
On September 18, 2025, Wittman marked an important military anniversary: “Today, we celebrate 78 years of the United States Air Force! Since 1947, the Air Force has defended our skies with courage and sacrifice. Thank you to the brave men and women, both past and present, who have served in selfless dedication to keeping our nation free and secure.”
The following day, Wittman reported on his vote regarding government funding: “Today, I voted for the passage of the Continuing Resolution that will prevent a government shutdown, and protect servicemembers, federal employees, and hardworking American families from unnecessary uncertainty.” This action was aimed at maintaining government operations amid budget negotiations.
Later on September 19, Wittman discussed legislative efforts concerning national infrastructure: “Recently, I spoke on the House Floor to advocate for the GRID Power Act, which will ensure grid reliability and unleash American energy production. This legislation, which passed in the House, will lower energy costs for Virginians!”
Wittman has represented Virginia’s 1st district since 2007 after succeeding Jo Ann Davis. He previously served in local government roles including the Virginia House of Delegates and Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors between 2006-2007. Born in Washington D.C. in 1959 and currently residing in Montross at age 64, Wittman is also an alumnus of Virginia Tech (Class of ’81).
