Rep. Rob Wittman, who represents Virginia’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues through his official social media account, including the ongoing government shutdown, constituent services, and developments in the Middle East.

On October 10, 2025, Wittman posted: “This shutdown is unnecessary and harmful—not just in Washington, but to the pocketbooks of hardworking families in Virginia and across the nation. I urge Senators to come together to reopen the government and prevent more harm from being done to Americans.”

Three days later, on October 13, 2025, Wittman highlighted constituent support services: “Do you need help with checking on Social Security benefits, renewing a passport, or processing a VA claim? My district offices in Glen Allen and Yorktown are open every day, but my team is also hosting mobile office hours in Kilmarnock tomorrow to assist constituents with”

Later that same day, Wittman commented on international developments: “Today is a historic day for the Middle East and the world. After two years, the remaining Israeli hostages have been released—a monumental step toward ending the Israel-Hamas war. Thanks to the tireless work of President Trump and his national security team, we are one step”

Wittman has represented Virginia’s 1st District since 2007 after succeeding Jo Ann Davis. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates and on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1959, Wittman is currently 64 years old and resides in Montross. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
