Opioid crisis focus: Rob Wittman’s actions for Virginia’s First District

Rep. Rob Wittman, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 1st District since 2007, has been active in addressing issues such as the opioid crisis and honoring historical events. Wittman, who succeeded Jo Ann Davis and has prior experience in the Virginia House of Delegates and Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors, continues to engage with constituents on various fronts.

On June 5, 2025, Rep. Wittman announced his efforts to tackle the ongoing opioid crisis affecting families nationwide. He stated, “The opioid crisis continues to impact families and communities across the nation. That’s why I introduced an amendment, which passed unanimously, to the SUPPORT Act to improve awareness of and access to mental health and substance use disorder resources.”

In a subsequent post on June 6, 2025, Wittman commemorated the anniversary of D-Day by expressing gratitude towards those involved in this pivotal World War II event. He remarked, “On this D-Day anniversary, we remember the brave heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Thank you to these courageous men and women whose sacrifice changed the course of history.”

Later that day, Wittman reiterated his commitment to combating the opioid crisis by highlighting Naloxone Awareness Day. In his message on social media he emphasized,“The opioid crisis continues to devastate families and communities, making it critical that we raise awareness about life-saving tools like Naloxone. Today, on Naloxone Awareness Day, I remain committed to expanding access so folks in Virginia’s First District can protect their”.

Rob Wittman was born in Washington D.C., in 1959 and resides in Montross. A graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1981.
