Markel Road between Byrd Avenue and Willow Lawn Drive 

Markel Road between Byrd Avenue and Willow Lawn Drive will be closed beginning Monday, Jan. 16 for work to improve pedestrian safety. The closure is expected until about the first week of March.

The project will install an elevated crosswalk on Markel and provide traffic calming devices and other improvements to enhance pedestrian safety at Markel and Byrd. A detour will direct motorists around the work zone by way of Byrd, Fitzhugh Avenue and Willow Lawn.
