ICON A5 TRAVELS TO SEVEN PINES ELEMENTARY

The ICON A5 Introduction to Flight Team traveled down the road from Richmond International Airport to visit Seven Pines Elementary in Sandston, VA. The Public Relations and Education staff spoke with approximately 120 fourth and fifth grade students about aviation and possible careers in the field.

The energetic students had the opportunity to sit in the aircraft and operate the controls while asking questions about how airplanes fly. Each child was given a wooden balsa airplane to construct and fly on school grounds. They were also provided with pencils, airplane erasers and other aviation education materials.

The ICON A5 is an amphibious light sport aircraft that the DOAV PR and Education Team take across the Commonwealth of Virginia to educate youth about aviation. For more information on how to get this free program to your school or local airport, email Betty Wilson.
