Henrico County Public Library announced on May 1 a series of programs to celebrate Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. The library will offer activities throughout May, including board game sessions, art workshops, musical performances, and book discussions.
The celebration aims to highlight the cultural diversity and contributions of AANHPI communities. Residents are invited to participate in events such as learning traditional games like Parcheesi, Kōnane, Go, and Mahjong; origami paper crane folding; Chinese calligraphy; a Gamelan music concert; film screenings; book discussions; Japanese marbling art workshops for teens; and Chinese knotting crafts.
