Henrico County Government provided updates on recent board decisions and upcoming holiday closures through a series of posts made in late August 2025.
On August 26, the county announced, “The Board has approved a resolution accepting 0.36 miles of Farside Trail into the county road system for maintenance.” Later that day, Henrico County Government posted, “The Aug. 26 meeting of the Board of Supervisors has concluded. Two days later, on August 28, Henrico County Government issued a notice regarding Labor Day operations: “Henrico County offices and courts will be closed Monday, Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday. County refuse collection will not occur. Service will resume Tuesday on a one-day delay through the week. The county’s public use areas will be open. https://t.co/5CBAEvRw59 https://t.co/3BTQbYT6bt”
Henrico County is home to Henrico County Public Schools District, which enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year according to data from the Virginia Department of Education (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among all schools in the county with more than 2,000 students during that period. The student population was diverse; Black students were the largest ethnic group at nearly 36% of enrollment, followed by white students at approximately 32%. Holladay Elementary School enrolled more pre-kindergarten students than any other school in Henrico County.
