Henrico County Government has announced new opportunities for residents and community stakeholders to provide input on local climate action efforts, according to a series of posts made on February 5, 2026. The county is seeking feedback through a public survey and upcoming open-house meetings as it develops its Climate Action and Adaptation Strategy (CAAS).

In one post dated February 5, Henrico County Government stated, “Residents and community stakeholders can share their perspectives on local climate action and provide feedback in a public survey through March 16: https://t.co/Gnx0eAtsKV”.

The same day, the county elaborated on the purpose of this outreach: “Henrico County is seeking input from community members to support development of a Climate Action and Adaptation Strategy (CAAS) designed to help county operations — and the broader community — reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change. https://t.co/Zlcyniumg6”.

Additionally, details were provided about upcoming events for further engagement. According to another February 5 post, “Participants also will be able to provide input and learn about the CAAS at open-house meetings planned throughout the county:
· Thursday, Feb. 19, 6:30-8 pm, Varina Area Library, 1875 New Market Rd
· Thursday, Feb. 26, 5-6:30 pm, Glen Allen Branch Library, 10501 Staples Mill Rd”
.

Henrico County’s initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts by local governments across the United States to address climate change at both operational and community levels. Henrico County is home to a large school district; during the 2023-24 school year alone, Henrico County Public Schools District enrolled over 50,000 students—a slight increase from previous years (source). The student population is diverse; Black students comprised nearly 36% of enrollment while white students made up almost 32% (source). Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among secondary schools in that period (source).

These demographic details highlight both the scale of potential participation in initiatives like CAAS as well as the broad impact such strategies could have across various segments of Henrico’s population.
