Henrico County Government announced a series of events at Three Lakes Park, highlighting the center’s mission to educate the public about local wildlife and environmental stewardship.

In a post dated September 11, 2025, Henrico County Government stated, “The center’s main mission is to teach people how to respect animals they might find frightening.” The same day, Jim Weinpress, manager of zoology for Meadow Farm and Three Lakes parks, was quoted in another post: “You don’t have to travel to see cool ecosystems, you have them in your own backyard!” said Jim Weinpress, the manager of zoology for Meadow Farm and Three Lakes parks. “We want to encourage people to learn about the animals right here and how to be good environmental stewards.”

The county also promoted upcoming community activities at Three Lakes Park. According to a post on September 11, 2025: “In addition to today’s ribbon cutting and community celebration, Three Lakes Park will host a concert with 5starr at 7 p.m. tomorrow Sept. 12 and a movie night featuring a presentation of prehistoric fossils before a screening of ‘Ice Age’ on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.”

Henrico County is served by one public school district that enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). The county’s student population is diverse; Black students made up the largest ethnic group in schools that year at nearly 36%, followed by white students at almost 32% (source). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all county schools with more than two thousand students (source).
