Henrico County Government highlighted the legacy of educator Virginia E. Randolph and announced upcoming events and closures in a series of tweets posted between January 14 and January 15, 2026.

On January 14, Henrico County Government shared remarks from Board of Supervisors Chair Roscoe D. Cooper III about Virginia E. Randolph’s impact: “The campus mirrors Virginia E. Randolph’s work as a pioneering educator, Board of Supervisors Chair Roscoe D. Cooper III said. ‘She devoted her life to helping Black communities succeed through education. It gives me great pride to honor her today,’ he said.” The statement reflects the county’s recognition of Randolph’s contributions to education for Black communities.

The following day, on January 15, the government informed residents about an upcoming planning commission meeting: “The Henrico County Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 in the Board Room of the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road. For links to the agenda and livestream and more information, visit https://t.co/4VwO0V2CSn.”

Later that day, another tweet addressed schedule changes for Martin Luther King Jr. Day: “Henrico government offices & courts will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trash collection will not occur & will resume Tuesday on a 1-day delay through the week. Public-use areas will be open. Recycling service through CVWMA will be on a normal schedule.”

Henrico County is served by a single public school district which enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 school year (source). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among its schools that year (source). Black students comprised the largest ethnic group in county schools at nearly 36% of total enrollment (source). Total student numbers saw a slight increase compared to the previous year (source), while Holladay Elementary School led in pre-kindergarten enrollment (source).
