Henrico County Public Schools District is the only school district in Henrico County and enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to data from the Virginia Department of Education (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all county schools with over 2,000 students during that period. Black students represented the largest ethnic group within Henrico County schools at nearly 36% of total enrollment. Holladay Elementary School enrolled more pre-kindergarten students than any other elementary school in the county.
The Virginia Association of Counties’ recognition underscores ongoing efforts by Henrico’s government agencies and educational institutions to address community priorities such as mental health support and student engagement.
