Henrico County Government highlighted the professional growth of Elizabeth McDonald, assistant director of the Department of Public Utilities’ Operations Division, and promoted the county’s reputation as a leading employer in Virginia through recent posts on social media.
On September 15, 2025, Henrico County Government posted about McDonald’s experience: “For Elizabeth McDonald, Henrico County has offered experience that has allowed her to grow professionally. As assistant director of the Department of Public Utilities’ Operations Division, she is serving for the first time as a supervisor.”
The same day, the county encouraged job seekers to consider employment opportunities with Henrico: “Level up your career by working for Henrico – one of the best employers in VA, according to @Forbes! A follow-up post featured a direct quote from McDonald regarding her career development within Henrico County: ‘”It’s really provided me growth in my career, growth in me as a person,” McDonald of @HenricoDPW_DPU says. “I think I’ve learned more here than in any other job that I’ve had.”‘
Henrico County is also home to one public school district which enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all schools in the county during that period (source). Black students comprised the largest ethnic group within these schools at nearly 36% of total enrollment (source). The district saw a slight increase in student numbers compared to previous years (source), and Holladay Elementary led pre-kindergarten enrollment across the county (source).
