Henrico County Government announced on October 15, 2025, that the Board of Supervisors approved key resolutions regarding land use and school board finances, as detailed in a series of social media posts.
In a post dated October 15, 2025, Henrico County Government stated, “The Board has approved a resolution affirming that a proposed site for public parking and a boardwalk trailhead for the expansion of Tuckahoe Creek Park is substantially in accord with the land-use guidance of the county’s 2026 comprehensive plan.” The expansion site includes properties located north and south of Patterson Avenue, west of its intersection with Westbriar Drive. In another post on the same day, the county noted, “The site is composed of properties north and south of Patterson Avenue, west of its intersection with Westbriar Drive. Henrico announced plans for the expansion in April, following donation of the properties by the Wilton Companies.”
Additionally, the Board addressed school district finances. On October 15, 2025, Henrico County Government posted, “The Board has passed a resolution approving the Henrico County School Board’s retention of proceeds from the sale of 7850 Carousel Lane. The site of the former Mount Vernon Adult Education Center recently sold for $5M.”
Henrico County Public Schools District is the only school district in Henrico County and enrolled 50,464 students during the 2023-24 school year. The district saw a slight increase in total enrollment compared to the previous year. Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among all schools in the district with 2,039 students. During this period, Black students represented the largest ethnic group in Henrico County schools at 35.7% of total enrollment. Holladay Elementary School enrolled the largest number of pre-kindergarten students in the county.
The recent actions by the Board reflect ongoing developments in land use planning and school district operations within Henrico County.
