Henrico County Government announced on September 23, 2025, that its Board approved resolutions concerning property management and leasing following a public hearing. The updates were shared via the county’s official social media account.

In a post made on September 23, Henrico County Government stated, “Following a public hearing, the Board approved a resolution authorizing condemnation proceedings for property on Chapman Lane for a water-service extension project. The property owners are deceased; the county has been unable to identify anyone to convey legal title.” The same day, the county added that “The county will continue to seek voluntary acquisition of the property.”

Another resolution passed by the Board concerned farmland leasing. According to a third post on September 23, “Following a public hearing, the Board approved a resolution for a 5-year lease of 1,050 acres of farmland at 8701 Willis Church Road. Creamfield Farm LLC will pay $15,750 annual rent beginning Jan. 1. The lease includes an option for a five-year renewal.”

Henrico County is also home to Henrico County Public Schools District, which enrolled over 50,000 students in the 2023-24 school year and operates more than sixty schools in the area (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). During this period, Black students comprised the largest ethnic group in county schools at nearly 36% of enrollment (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). These demographic details provide context for understanding local government decisions regarding land use and community services.
