Henrico County Government has announced a series of events and initiatives for local families and residents in early February 2026, focusing on parenting resources and Black History Month celebrations.

On February 2, 2026, the county invited parents to participate in a free educational program: “Parents are invited to participate in a free, two-part workshop to help them manage challenging behaviors & build stronger relationships with their children. The Henrico CARE workshop will be held Feb. 4 & 11. To register, email Laura Bullock at bul024@henrico.gov.” This event is aimed at providing guidance for parents seeking support with child behavior management and relationship building.

The following day, Henrico County highlighted its recognition of Black History Month through various community activities. On February 3, the county posted: “Henrico County is proud to celebrate February as Black History Month! The county will host activities to highlight Black history, including book discussions, museum presentations, a film festival, cooking classes and walking tours of African American cemeteries.”

Further details about specific events were shared later that morning: “Some activities:
– Discussion of “The Color Purple” Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Libbie Mill Library
– Presentation by @theValentineRVA, “Soul of a Community,” Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Fairfield Area Library
-“Fruitvale Station” Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Twin Hickory Area Library”

Henrico County Public Schools District serves as the sole school district in the area and enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). Among these students, Black students represented the largest ethnic group—accounting for more than one-third of total enrollment (source). Deep Run High School recorded the highest student enrollment among all schools in the district during that period (source).

These initiatives reflect ongoing efforts by Henrico County Government to engage both families and broader community members through educational programming and cultural observances.
