Henrico County Government announced on January 26, 2026, that all general government offices and facilities, as well as courts and clerks’ offices, will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, due to the impact of a winter storm. The Board of Supervisors is set to meet as scheduled at the Henrico County Government Center.
In a post made at 5:40 p.m. UTC on January 26, Henrico County Government stated: “Henrico County general government offices and facilities and Henrico courts and clerks’ offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27, due to the effects of the winter storm. The Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, as scheduled, at the Henrico County Government Center.”
The county also issued reminders regarding emergency services and travel precautions in subsequent messages posted at 5:43 p.m. UTC on January 26. One message advised residents: “The public is reminded to call 911 for emergencies and the Police Division’s nonemergency number 804-501-5000 for other health and safety needs.” Another message requested that people limit travel: “The public is asked to avoid nonessential travel, as crews continue to focus on clearing primary and secondary roads. The Department of Public Works expects to begin assessing later today when crews might be able to begin clearing neighborhood and side streets.”
Henrico County’s response comes during a school year in which its only public school district enrolled over 50,000 students across its 68 schools (source). Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among these schools with more than two thousand students (source). Black students represented the largest ethnic group in Henrico schools during this period (source). Holladay Elementary led pre-kindergarten enrollment in the county for the year (source).
