Glen Allen-based Industrial Support Services company ASGN Inc. (ASGN:NYQ) sees value rise 14.6% in April

Value in Industrial Support Services stocks fell 7.8 percent in April from the previous month.

The strongest performing Industrial Support Services company in Virginia was Brinks Co. (BCO:NYQ), sitting 57.5 percent higher to sell at $58.95.

Maximus Inc. (MMS:NYQ) experienced the smallest increase in share price among Virginia companies, rising 11.4 percent to sell at $72.88.

Among Glen Allen companies, ASGN Inc. (ASGN:NYQ) saw the highest rise in value of 14.6 percent in April.

The Finance and Credit Services industry was the month’s best-performing industry on the market. The market is divided into 45 different industries.

Telecommunications Service Providers was the worst-performing industry.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
