Willis King, an instructional assistant at Fair Oaks Elementary School, has been recognized as the latest “Yay of the Day” honoree by Henrico County Public Schools. Superintendent Amy Cashwell presented the honor to King during a recent visit to Fair Oaks.
King was nominated by Requel McKeever-Nowlin, who highlighted his dedication and positive influence in the school community. “He is awesome! Very helpful, very dedicated and uplifting I.A.” McKeever-Nowlin said.
She also noted King’s perfect attendance record since the start of the school year and his willingness to stay late to assist in the classroom. “Every day, he has perfect attendance. He has not missed one day since the first day of school. He is always at work and on time and stays late to help me out in the classroom in any way. He is motivational towards the staff and students with positive words of advice and encouragement. He is great with the kids, leading with light and love. He has a great sense of humor, which keeps all of his coworkers laughing in times of challenges and despair. King’s presence is truly ‘Kingly’ and royal in how he inspires others. He doesn’t do anything for recognition, always pure intent. Please make him the Yay of the Day because he deserves it!”
