Lisa Banton, librarian at Elko Middle School, has been recognized as the “Yay of the Day” honoree by Henrico County Public Schools Superintendent Amy Cashwell. The recognition took place recently at Elko Middle School.
Julexus Cappell Hyman, who nominated Banton for the honor, said, “I have never come across another colleague that is so dedicated and passionate about students having awesome learning experiences!
“We partner as co-sponsors for our school’s weekly live morning announcements. The way she has welcomed students who are interested, provides a environment where students can be creative and know it is OK to try something new and different. This same energy transfers over to projects and lessons we have co-taught in content classes. Ms. Banton makes the library a place where students want to be that engages them to consider innovative approaches to tasks. Our students would not have these experiences without the care and compassion that Ms. Banton brings every single day!”
The “Yay of the Day” series highlights staff members who contribute positively to their schools and community. Nominations can be submitted through the Henrico County Public Schools website.
