CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

 The CAA has announced its women’s basketball weekly awards following the fourth week of the 2022-23 season, with a pair of freshmen producing impressive performances as the calendar turned to December. Charleston guard Jazmyn Stone earned CAA Player of the Week honors, while Drexel guard Grace O’Neill received CAA Rookie of the Week accolades. 
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
Jazmyn Stone, Charleston 
Freshman | Guard | Tacoma, Wash. / Annie Wright  
Stone tallied 24.3 points per game on 52 percent shooting (26-50) with 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.0 assists per contest, leading Charleston to a 3-0 week. The freshman guard scored a career-high 32 points, shooting 55 percent (11-20) from the field, with three rebounds, three steals and two assists in a victory over Charleston Southern to conclude an impressive week. The display came after back-to-back 20-point performances as Stone began the week with 21 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists in a 79-60 win over Radford on Wednesday. On Friday, she added 20 points on 70 percent shooting (7-10) with a career-best six rebounds, three steals and three assists, helping the Cougars take down Coastal Carolina 85-81. Stone is the first Cougar freshman since 2004-05 to score at least 20 points in three games during her debut season and first in program history to have four straight 20-point performances.   
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 
Grace O’Neill, Drexel
Freshman | Guard | West Chester, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll 
O’Neill averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game while shooting 55 percent (11-20) in a pair of contests for the Dragons. The freshman guard posted a career-best 14 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor, with six rebounds and a career-high five steals in a 74-61 win over Longwood on Wednesday. On Sunday, she added nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists despite a setback against Saint Joseph’s. O’Neill has three or more steals in three consecutive contests and has at least two in five games this season.
