Delaware swept the CAA swimming and diving weekly awards once again after strong performances in a meet against La Salle and Rider last Friday. Sophomore Gavin Currie was chosen as the Men’s Swimmer of the Week and junior Erin Shema was named the Women’s Swimmer of the Week. Sophomore Philip Townsend was selected as the Men’s Diver of the Week and freshman Alex Pastris earned her third Women’s Diver of the Week award.
 
CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Gavin Currie, So., Delaware (Frederick, Md.)

 
Currie posted a pair of first-place finishes and a second-place effort in Delaware’s victories over La Salle and Rider last Friday. The sophomore captured the 200 back with a time of 1:50.45 and finished second in the 100 back with a time of 50.62. Both times rank among the top six in the CAA this season. He was also a member of Delaware’s 400 medley relay team that set a pool record with a time of 3:20.42, which is the second-fastest in the conference this season.
 
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Erin Shema, Jr., Delaware (Telford, Pa.)


Shema captured three individual events and a relay as Delaware defeated Rider and tied La Salle last Friday. The junior took first place in the 100 free with a time of 52.43, the 100 back with a time of 57.18 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.88, which is the second-fastest in the CAA this season. She was also a member of the Blue Hens’ 400 medley relay team that set a pool record with a time of 3:49.02, which is the second-fastest mark in the conference in 2022-23.

Philip Townsend, So., Delaware (Townsend, Del.)

Townsend recorded a pair of second-place finishes in Delaware’s competition against La Salle and Rider. The sophomore posted a score of 275.30 on the 3-meter board and had a score of 247.0 in the 1-meter competition.
 
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Alex Pastris, Fr., Delaware (Broomall, Pa.)

 
Pastris earns her third weekly honor after finishing second on both boards in the Blue Hens’ meet against La Salle and Rider. The freshman compiled a score of 262.65 in the 3-meter competition and had a score of 243.20 in the 1-meter competition.
